Rib erosions in rheumatoid arthritis.

چکیده
Defects in the superior margin of ribs, of an erosive nature, appear to be uncommon, the chief causes being poliomyelitis (Bernstein, Loeser, and Manning, 1958), hyperparathyroidism (Noetzli and Steinbach, 1962), rheumatoid arthritis (Alpert and Feldman, 1964), scleroderma (Keats, 1967); other rarer causes have been summarized by Boone, Swenson, and Felson (1964), Gayler and Donner (1967), and Sargent, Turner, and Jacobson (1969). Eighteen patients with rheumatoid arthritis have been found to have these rib erosions, similar to those previously described in the literature.

Healing of erosions in rheumatoid arthritis.
Reports on healing of erosions in rheumatoid arthritis are rare. However, it is expected that repair of erosions should be seen more often during the period of extensive use of disease modifying antirheumatic drugs, especially in patients who experience sustained remission. Two such cases are described.
متن کاملMetabolic activity of erosions in rheumatoid arthritis.
The hands of 10 patients with rheumatoid arthritis were investigated with diphosphonate scanning and radiology. Increased uptake of isotope can be associated with some erosions but not all and also reflects other processes more linked to acute inflammatory areas unassociated with the development of erosions. If the latter are the hallmark of active rheumatoid arthritis then bone scans are not.
متن کاملRole of Ultrasound and MRI in Detection of Hand and Wrist Joints Erosions in Rheumatoid Arthritis Patients, Comparative Study
Objective: To compare the role of musculoskeletal ultrasonography and MRI in the detection of erosions of the wrist and hand joints in Rheumatoid arthritis patients. Patients and Methods: This study included fifty patients (39 females and 11 males) with rheumatoid arthritis. They were subjected to high resolution grey scale ultrasound study and MRI examination of the clinically dominant wrist j...
متن کاملEvaluation of humeral head erosions in rheumatoid arthritis: a comparison of ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and plain radiography.
The value of ultrasonography (US), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and plain radiography (PR) in detecting bone erosions on the humeral head was evaluated in a study of 26 in-patients (26 shoulders) with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). MRI depicted humeral erosions in 25 (96%), US in 24 (92%), CT in 20 (77%) and PR in 19 (73%) of the 26 shoulders. MRI and US were superior ...
متن کاملDetection of bone erosions in rheumatoid arthritis wrist joints with magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography and radiography
BACKGROUND The objectives of the present study were, with multidetector computed tomography (CT) as the reference method, to determine the performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and radiography for the detection of bone erosions in rheumatoid arthritis wrist bones, and to test whether measuring volumes of erosions on CT and MRI is reproducible and correlated to semiquantitative assessm...
